Open Call for “Painting Long Beach”

joe trevino

Due to Omicron the deadline for Painting Long Beach has been extended. The new deadline is February 16.

The Long Beach Creative Group is asking artists to think about the greater Long Beach area and what is notable, significant, important. We want to create a portrait of Long Beach that breaks the stereotypes—showing both its beauty and the darker side, which is not always so glamorous.

Our city has a population diverse in every way imaginable—age, culture, and identity. Let’s give voice to these communities.

Neighborhoods have distinct personalities—Belmont Shore, the East Village, North Long Beach, the West side—to name but a few. Each area has hidden gems and things to excite the artistic eye. Our powerful port and many parks offer a variety of cityscapes. Let’s show people what we see through our own unique lens. We want a variety of styles—from realism to abstraction—and different perspectives—from historical to social.

What can you show us about Long Beach? What do you want to say about it?
