					1 All day: Opening Reception: St. Broxville Wood: Into the Thicket February 1, 2020All day Opening Reception: Saturday, February 1, 2020 \| 2-5pm. Artists' Talk: 4pm - Nature can at once be beautiful and dangerous, gorgeously sublime, uncompromising and inconstant. With one hand, it provides us with oxygen, water and food, and with the other, it drowns us, eats us and wipes us away with disease. St. Broxville Wood: Into the Thicket is an immersive, interactive installation by Jennifer Gunlock, Hilary Norcliffe, and Katie Stubblefield that evokes many of Nature’s unpredictable behaviors and dwells on our human response: from awe, celebration and song or story-creation, to domestication, callous disrespect and destruction. The artists' work further includes collaborative assembled sculpture and works on paper combined with wood elements, found object, ceramic and video projection installation, constructed interactive and instrumental sound installations. St. Broxville—a fictional amalgam of the artists’ cities of birth—is a swamp, a forest, or a surreal setting for fractured memories, prophecies or visions. In this exhibition each artist explores her own complex attitudes towards the forces of Nature, bringing contemporary methods, curiosity and whimsy to her work with one of Nature’s most valuable, age-old gifts: Wood. Angelica Fegley February 22, 2020 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm The Artist Coop on Gladys is excited to announce Process: Artist Lecture Series #20 with Angelica Fegley as our 20th guest lecturer. Here is Angelica's Biography from her website "Born and raised in Puerto Rico, I was surrounded by vibrant colors and always looked for the beauty in everything. After immigrating to the United States, focused my energy on co-owning and building a successful clothing manufacturing business which eventually I sold, later found my real passion to express my feelings and inner voice in the arts. I explored many different techniques, media and styles of painting in college classes and discovered my personal voice and vocabulary in abstract oil paintings. The process and the product are exactly what I wanted- an emotional expression of my inner self. My paintings begin and end with feelings. As I excavate the layers of my inner landscape my paintings evolve through multiple layers poured paint and textures which trigger other abstract forms. Both the selection of the colors I use and the actual physical action of pouring the paint are emotional processes to me. My goal is to draw the viewer into the feelings I express so they can explore their own, to experience deeply personal as well as universal feelings and the truth that links us all."
